I wonder if anyone's ever done a study on the cultivation and spread of adolescent rumors or childish urban legends. Adult urban legends are fucking boring; they're either so realistic that who cares, or they're obviously a creative writing prank.
With kids though, they're simple and tap into a basic hunger for something, but what? To believe that the world waiting for us is an exciting one? To believe we're better than our peers? Or is it just a more pure form of our craving for escapism?
So take notes all you psych majors out there and that goes for film students too. A clinical documentary with interviews of a bunch of cute grade schoolers talking about stories they heard? There's no way you aren't getting an "A". You're welcome.
